Tadoba National Park is a famous tourist spot that is home to tigers and leopards along with other animals. What is Tadoba?
Tadoba National Park or you can say Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is one of India’s 47 project tiger reserves that are in India. It is located in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra and covers a huge area of 1,727 Sq.km. This area is a mix of park and wildlife sanctuary. The sanctuary was formed in the year 1986 and the park was established in 1995.
This park is known as Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve because the word Tadoba is taken from the God “Tadoba” or “Taru,”. This word is praised by local tribal people of this region. The word “Andhari” is taken from the Andhari river flowing in this area. With the river and huge area, this park creates the perfect habitat for wild animals. They get enough food from the flora and they can quench their thirst from the rivers.
This park has rich flora varieties which include Teak, Ain, Bija, Dhauda, Hald, Salai, Semal, Tendu, Beheda, Hirda, Karaya gum, Mahua Madhuca, Arjun, Bamboo, Bheria, Black Plum, and many more. With this much flora, this park is home to animals like Gaur, Nilgai, Sambar, Spotted Deer, Chital, etc. Because of this large animal prey base, this park is home to Tigers, Indian leopards, Sloth bears, Striped hyenas, etc.
